Burney CollectionTrial access to the 17th and 18th Century Burney Collection Newspapers database is currently available from Gale/CENGAGE Learning.

The newspapers and news pamphlets gathered by the Reverend Charles Burney (1757-1817) represent the largest single collection of 17th and 18th century English news media from these two centuries. The Burney Collection includes nearly 1,270 pamphlets, proclamations, newsbooks and newspapers from the period, ranging in date from 1603 to the early 1800s — from England, Ireland, Scotland and a handful of papers from British colonies in the Americas and Asia.
