The American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) and the Architecture Reading Room present its spring book club event on Wednesday, April 13 at 5:15 p.m. in Room 402, Slocum Hall. The group will discuss Robin Visser’s book, Cities Surround The Countryside: Urban Aesthetics in Postsocialist China, which analyzes Chinese urban planning, architecture, fiction, cinema, art, and cultural studies at the turn of the 21st century, in preparation for her lecture the following day.
Dr. Visser, an associate professor and chair of the Department of Asian Studies at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, will present a lecture on her book on April 14 at 6 p.m. in Slocum Auditorium. The event will be moderated by assistant professor Lawrence Chua and is co-sponsored by the Central New York Humanities Corridor, from an award by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
