The Library will host an Open House on Sunday, May 12th from noon – 4 p.m. to showcase the renovations to Carnegie Library and its Reading Room. The event will include self-guided tours of completed improvements in the Reading Room, entrance, lobby, second floor ambulatory, and the third floor.
Construction of the Carnegie Library was funded by a $150,000 gift from philanthropist Andrew Carnegie in 1905. The new library opened in the fall of 1907 with an initial collection of 71,000 volumes and was the main campus library until the opening of Bird Library in 1972.
