Carnegie Library, which was closed over the summer for renovations, reopened on Monday, August 27th. Effective with the re-opening, the official name of the merged Science & Technology and Mathematics libraries is Carnegie Library.
The Carnegie renovation is unfinished, however Library services will resume on the first floor while renovations to the second floor reading room are completed and a new service point created there. Room 103 has been set up as a temporary study area with tables, carrels, and workstations. Material housed in Carnegie Library may be checked out from the first floor circulation desk, including calculators, laptops, and course reserve items.
Per the Library’s long range plan, Carnegie Library collections now encompass call numbers Q – Z; TR (Photography), TT (Technical Arts, Crafts),U (Military Science), V (Naval Science), and Z (Bibliography, Library Science) have been transferred from Bird Library to Carnegie. The collections of the two former libraries have been merged and the stacks are in call number order (Q – Z). All government documents have been consolidated in Bird Library. Bound journals are in interim storage while they await transfer to the new SU Library Facility. They will be among the first items transferred to the Facility.
