Dissent on Film screening

In collaboration with Syracuse University Library’s spring exhibition Strange Victories: Grove Press, 1951-1985, the Special Collections Research Center will host a screening of politically-engaged and avant-garde films distributed by Grove Press, including:

Some Won’t Go (1969) by Gil Toff
The Game (1967) by Roberta Hodes
The Life and Death of 9413: A Hollywood Extra (1928) by Robert Florey
At Land (1944) by Maya Deren
A Trip to the Moon (1902) by Georges Meiles
Fiddle De Dee (1947) by Norman McLaren

The event will take place on February 21 at 7:00 p.m. at The Palace Theater in Syracuse and is free and open to the public.

This event is part of the 2012-2013 Ray Smith Symposium “Positions of Dissent,” co-sponsored by the College of Arts and Sciences, Humanities Center, School of Architecture, LGBT Studies, and the departments of English, History, African American Studies, and Art, Design and Transmedia.
