The Syracuse University Libraries have agreed to be a repository for public documents related to the I-81 Viaduct Project in Syracuse. Environmental Design and Research, a local company involved in the I-81 project, is required by the NYS Dept. of Transportation to arrange for public access to project documents. Documents include the Environmental Impact Statement, project scoping documents, project newsletters, and supporting studies.
Project documents are available at the first floor circulation desk in Bird Library, which closes to the public at 8 p.m. during the academic year.
In addition to SU, the OCPL system (all branches), the Southwest Community Center, the Northeast Community Center, and many of the municipal offices in Syracuse and Onondaga County are also repositories.
To date, the Libraries have received one document, a copy of the Federal Highway Administrations’ Notice of Intent to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement for the I-81 Viaduct project. The Libraries will receive additional documents over the course of the project, estimated to be three years.
