Syracuse University Library has purchased archival journal collections of two major university press publishers, the Oxford University Press journal archive and the Cambridge University Press journal archive. These two collections significantly expand the Library’s scholarly journal collections across a range of subject areas.
The Cambridge Journals Digital Archive includes 220 journals ranging from 1827 to 1996. Some of the key subject areas covered are law, music & drama, history, Asian studies, classics, politics, economics, language and linguistics, philosophy & religion, agriculture, medicine, physical sciences, ecology and conservation, and mathematics and computer sciences. See http://snack.to/fzcl7e08 for the full list of available titles.
Also from Cambridge University Press, the Library now provides access to the Journal of Fluid Mechanics digital archive, Volumes 1 (1956) – 329 (1996) to meet the research needs of L. C. Smith faculty. This title was not included in the Cambridge University Press journal archive and was purchased separately.
The Oxford Journals Archive includes 195 journal titles spanning five subject areas – medicine, science, law, humanities, and social sciences, with content from 1849 to 1995. See http://www.oxfordjournals.org/for_librarians/archive_2013.pdf for the full list of available titles.
The Library has also purchased the Elsevier Cell Press backfile, which provides online access from volume 1 issue 1 through 1996 for several journals, including Neuron and Cell. This purchase expands the Library’s neuroscience collection to support that growing academic program.
