Syracuse University Library access for faculty, students, and staff to the Simmons Oneview database is now available online. Affiliated users with an SU NetID interested in using Simmons consumer survey data can visit http://researchguides.library.syr.edu/simmonsoneview for more detailed information, including user guidance and tutorials. Faculty or students wishing to bookmark or embed the database’s direct URL should use this web address: http://libezproxy.syr.edu/login?url=https://oneview.experian.com/UniversityAccess?uid=5237 .
Experian’s Simmons Oneview (once known as Simmons “Choices 3”) contains extensive consumer survey data for large samplings of individuals and American households. It allows cross tabulation of hundreds of consumer product categories and usage data for over 8,000 brands, inclusive of consumer media habits, diverse demographic categories and psychographic (attitudinal and lifestyle) profiles. SU continues to be among just a handful of academic institutions in the U.S. that offer Simmons Oneview to their affiliated students, staff, and faculty. We are also among the first group of academic institutions to offer the data to their academic community under Experian’s new online, IP address access model. For users already familiar with Simmons Oneview, this change from Library mediated password access to online – IP address-based access – does not alter the database’s underlying core search features nor the data sets available under the Library’s present subscription.
