Syracuse University Press will host an Open House on November 13th and November 15th from 2 to 4 p.m. in celebration of the first annual University Press Week. During these two days, guests are welcome to stop into the press at 621 Skytop Road, Suite 110 to meet the staff, take a tour, and enjoy some free refreshments!
University Press Week, November 11th – 17th, highlights the extraordinary work of university presses and their many contributions to culture, society, and the academy. An assortment of special events will take place on campus and online throughout the week.
On the main campus, the SU Library and University bookstore will be showcasing a special book display of various SU Press titles. Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to stop by. For a more focused look at their work, Fine Print*, an online gallery/slideshow of AAUP member presses, will be featuring SU Press’s Khul-Khaal: Five Egyptian Women Tell Their Stories as a representation of their individual strengths and values.
On Monday, November 12th, SU Press will take the celebration online with the display of their Google Influence Map and a united Blog Tour. Their influence map, spanning three continents, displays the global footprint of the press over the past three years. The Blog Tour will consist of collaborative University Press posts as a round-up discussing the value of university presses from several different viewpoints. Like the influence map, this tour emphasizes the wide-spread impact university presses have on the world around us. Visit the SU Press blog, Facebook page, or Twitter feed (#UPWeek) to follow the Blog Tour.
University Press Week has much to celebrate and everyone is encouraged to join in on the excitement.
