Female Science Fiction Authors of the 20th Century

Mary Shelly’s Frankenstein: or the Modern Prometheus (1818) is oft recognized by historians and critics as an early – if not the earliest – example of the science fiction literature. As the genre matured, critics and press with a strong bias marginalized many women artists; because of this sexist editing many women authors are lesser known than their male peers. This exhibit highlights some of their works, represent by key figures in the genre such as Ursula K. Le Guin and  Madeleine L’Engle.
